Previously, stem cells were the most powerful agent to heal damaged tissue and create new cells for skin regeneration. Now, DNA Skin Institute has developed a new serum--Signal Pro--the next evolution of stem cell technology. The new serum has been specifically sequenced to stimulate the growth of human dermal fibroblasts, which form new skin cells. The more fibroblasts that are available, the stronger and younger the skin looks and feels. Signal Pro replaces the previously-used bovine stem cells with a silkworm-derived protein (Amino Acid Signaling Complex) that is more dynamic than the bovine extractions, which means that there is a greater capacity for rejuvenation and repair within the skin itself.

Freshly harvested silkworm protein and organic dermal fibroblast materials are combined in a cultured medium. As they interact, the cells secrete signaling factors--enzymes, mono and polysaccharides, proteins, and amino acids--which stimulate the growth of human dermal fibroblasts. These signaling factors will only affect the growth of your own skin cells. They cannot trigger the growth of any other type of cell. These compounds go into the extracellular matrix, the connective tissue that feeds skin cells. ​ The serum also contains vital nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, hyaluronic acid, low- and high-molecular-weight essential fats, enzymes, and natural antioxidants. The combination of nutrients with the signaling factors have achieved a 71% growth of new skin fibroblasts in scientific experiments. Fibroblast growth occurs over a period of 144 hours after the application of the serum.

As we age, normal cycles of tissue regeneration become compromised. Most experts and researchers posit that this is an effect of free radical damage. Oxidative stress damages the protein constituents that make up the genetic material in your body, making the DNA less efficient and less able to duplicate itself. Since the same resources are utilized to regenerate heart, liver, and brain tissue, skin replication is not the body’s highest priority. The Signal Pro serum enters the skin through trans-dermal absorption, mostly through the hair follicle and sebaceous glands. Yes. There are no side effects or risks with this treatment. The silk protein is sequenced specifically to human dermal fibroblasts and does not have any outside growth factors; the skin absorbs only the signaling factors and the vital nutrients and minerals. The serum is very specific and cannot cause harm or stimulate the growth of any other type of cell. Foreign DNA does not enter the skin, and no genetic alteration or mutation occurs. The technology and system of delivery of the DNA Skin Institute products have been evaluated by the US FDA and have been deemed safe and compliant for consumer sale and distribution.

The silkworms thrive on a very relaxed and stable environment of all-organic compost and minerals at the University of Dublin in Ireland. The protein is obtained during a natural part of the silkworms’ life cycle--once every thirty days, the silkworms begin to shed their skin and secrete a silk protein, which is then collected without injury to the silkworms. New silkworms are introduced every 90 days from the Irish countryside.

The results are virtually immediate. There will be a change in the skin after the first session, especially within the first 24-48 hours. The benefits from each treatment will progressively increase over a period of 144 hours (6 days) after each application. We recommend 6-10 treatments over a 90 day period. The number of treatments and time periods may vary based on a person’s skin and health conditions. For optimal results Signal Plus ™ is also recommended for home use.

Please be aware that with any injectable there is the possibility of bruising. This is not considered an “adverse reaction,“ Only a side effect that some clients experience. Avoiding certain supplements or medications (blood thinners) 10 days prior to dermal injections will help minimize the risk of bruising. However, prescribed medications should not be stopped until discussed with your physician. Over the counter products most commonly responsible for bruising are: Ibuprophin (Motrin, Advil) Naproxen (Naprosyn, Aleve, Anaprox, etc) Aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatories Vitamin E Fish Oil Garlic Ginkgo Biloba St. John's Wort Horse Chestnut Chondroitin MSM Cayenne Ginger and Cinnamon Turmeric The effects of these products and other prescribed medications may last as long as 10 days in the body so stopping them the day before may not help avoid the issue. Alcohol consumption can also promote bruising so avoid it 2 days prior to your appointment. For 2 days prior and 4 days after your procedure, some people find it helpful to take:​ 500 mg. Bromelain orally twice a day 30 c. of Arnica Montana sublingually, can take up to 5 pellets 3 times a day Arnica gel applied topically up to 4 times per day Auriderm gel (Vitamin K oxide) applied up to 4 times a day ​ The use of ice packs and head elevation after your appointment may be beneficial. Most people need between three and six treatments to see their final results. For younger people, one to two treatments are often enough. It all depends on your body's unique cellular turnover rate, your age, and how you've treated your skin in the past.

Sessions should be spaced out every 4 to 6 weeks. Healing from each treatment is just as important as the treatments themselves, so make sure to allow time in between sessions to get the full benefit.

Exercising and Sweating We advise patients to avoid sweaty exercise right after microneedling, as it can contribute to irritation and swelling while potentially exposing the skin to bacteria.

Hyaluronic acid can be used following microneedling, and it's even recommended in some cases to help stimulate collagen production after your procedure. If your skin is feeling dry, it's generally safe to apply coconut oil as an emollient to lock in moisture and hydrate your face after microneedling.

Wait at least four hours to wash your face. Your skin may feel warm and tight and look red for one to three days. During this period, use a delicate cleanser and moisturizer, and apply 1% hydrocortisone cream as needed to soothe skin irritation.

Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications for one week after the procedure. Do not use ice on your face, and avoid using arnica/bromelain. These may interfere with the natural inflammatory process that’s critical for your skin rejuvenation. Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks. After 24 hours, always use sunblock (30 SPF or higher) and wear a hat if you’re outside. Use a painkiller, such as Tylenol, if you experience any soreness.

Microneedling is a quick and non-invasive cosmetic procedure with minimal side effects. However, it’s quite normal to experience the following Day 1-3 A sunburn-like effect is normal. Your skin may feel tight, dry or sensitive to touch. Treat the skin gently by washing it with a gentle cleanser, cool water, and using only your hands to pat dry no earlier than 4 hours after treatment. Some redness may also be present and in some cases, patients may experience slight bruising that can last for 5-7 days and temporary swelling for 2-4 days. Tips Avoid strenuous exercises that cause sweating as well as jacuzzis, saunas, and steam baths for up to 48 hours. Use only mineral makeup after 24 hours. Sleep on your back with the head of the bed elevated to minimize swelling or pain as needed. Day 2-7 Peeling may start 3-5 days after the treatment. You’ll notice skin dryness and flaking which is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. DO NOT pick, scratch, or scrub at treated skin! Important information: You must allow the old skin to flake off naturally and keep it moisturized at all times. Talk to your skin specialist about which products to use. Day 5-7 You may start your regular skin care products again, once your skin no longer feels irritated. Most of our patients have noticed continued skin improvement over the months following their last treatment. For best results: We recommend follow-up and repeat microneedling treatments every 4-6 weeks, with a series of 3-5 treatments depending on your personalized care plan.
