Major Injectable Types

Sienna Skin Care has a large selection of injectables, including all of the most popular filler types. The four main injectable classes are Hyaluronic acid (think Juvéderm), Calcium hydroxylapatite (think Radiesse®), Poly-L-lactic acid, and Polymethylmethacrylate (think Bellafill®).

Here are some of the details of each filler type:

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is already in the skin. It helps keep skin plump and hydrated. HA fillers are typically soft and gel-like. Treatment results last 6 to 12 months or longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the HA. Popular product brands available at Sienna Skin Care include Juvéderm, Restylane, Perlane®, and Belotero Balance.

Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

Calcium hydroxylapatite is also a naturally occurring substance, found primarily in our bones. When used in a filler, the calcium particles are suspended in a smooth gel. Calcium hydroxylapatite also helps stimulate natural collagen production. Radiesse® is a CaHA filler used at Sienna Skin Care.

Poly-L-lactic acid

Poly-L-lactic acid is a biocompatible synthetic substance. It has been used for many years in medical devices, such as dissolvable stitches. Poly-L-lactic acid products are considered “collagen stimulators,” as their main mechanism to help your skin rebuild natural collagen.

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is a synthetic, biocompatible substance that has a long history of use in medical applications. As a dermal filler, PMMA remains beneath the skin indefinitely to provide continued support. Offered at Sienna Skin Care in this class is Bellafill® which combines collagen with PMMA to create a long-lasting effect.

JUVEDERM

JUVÉDERM (including JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC) is a smooth gel filler with hyaluronic acid (HA) that is used to instantly smooth away wrinkles around your mouth, nose and other areas when artistically administered. HA is natural to the body so there are no allergic reactions, and skin testing is not required. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year or longer. Full correction may require more than one treatment. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC – Lip Injection

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is the latest advancement in the JUVÉDERM family of injectables, developed specifically for lips. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is a soft, smooth injectable gel that adds subtle volume to the lips and defines the lip border by softening the appearance of perioral lines. Natural substances such as collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid that give skin structure and fullness gradually decrease as we age and our lips are not immune.  JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC lip injection uses VYCROSS® technology to smooth fine lines surrounding lips and restore fullness. Because it has a lower hyaluronic acid concentration than other injectables, JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is less likely to absorb water resulting in reduced swelling and more natural-looking results. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC

We are excited to be among the first in Topanga to offer JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, the longest-lasting hyaluronic acid filler currently available in the United States. It is similar to other hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane®,  Perlane®, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and Belotero Balance®. However, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC offers a far longer duration.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injectable gel is the first and only hyaluronic acid filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. Belotero Balance®

Belotero Balance®  dermal filler is FDA-approved for injection into the mid-to-deep
dermis for soft correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds. Its versatility makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as nasolabial folds, yet soft enough to treat less severe areas such as vertical lip lines.

Dr. Cadoux thinks that Belotero Balance is especially well-suited for injection into superficial, fine lines.  He has found it to be a superior filler for delicate areas around the eyes.  Belotero Balance is also a very precise filler for depressed scars.

Belotero Balance®, like Juvéderm® and Restylane®, is made of hyaluronic acid or HA. HA naturally exists as a component of your skin. By binding to water, it fills in wrinkles and folds, allowing immediate and smooth correction

 

RADIESSE

RADIESSE® dermal filler is made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel and is injected into the skin through a simple and minimally invasive procedure.

RADIESSE® dermal filler is the ideal choice for total facial contouring. It can restore a healthy, youthful appearance, enhance your existing features, help you defy age and gravity, and increase your confidence – all without invasive surgery or scarring.

Radiesse® dermal filler works with your own body in a remarkable way. Upon injection, it immediately adds volume to safely contour, correct, and beautify facial features. Artefill® (also referred to as Bellafill®)

Artefill® is a dual-acting wrinkle filler. Once it’s injected into the deep portion of the skin under the wrinkle, the collagen in Artefill® visibly corrects the wrinkle. Over time the collagen is absorbed by the body but the PMMA microspheres remain in place providing the support your skin needs for a long-lasting, natural feeling wrinkle correction. The PMMA microspheres induce your body to grow new collagen into the injected area, further enhancing the lasting results.

This in-office procedure takes minutes to perform. You may receive a topical anesthetic to lessen any minor discomfort. After the procedure you can return to your normal daily activities. Restylane

Restylane® is the first injectable composed of NASHA™ gel, Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. It has an excellent safety profile and no allergy testing is required. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Perlane

Perlane® is an injectable cosmetic dermal filler that has been used to soften wrinkles and facial lines. It is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring. It can be used in both sexes.

Perlane® is made from non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid gel. Perlane® is a non-animal injectable product and does not pose any risk for allergies. Hyaluronic acid is a resilient chemical and can easily adjust and mold to the facial contours. No prior skin testing is required prior to the injection of Perlane®.

The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® augments the body’s natural supply, which can become depleted with age. The injected Perlane® fills up scars, lines, and wrinkles on the face. Perlane® is not a permanent product and is broken down in the body. The cosmetic benefits last 6 – 8 months.
