The Treatment Experience

From preparation to recovery, here’s what to expect before, during, and after your BBL HEROic™ treatment.

Our highly experienced registered nurse will perform your BBL HEROic™ treatment.

Before beginning treatment, we will prep your skin with a gel and place protective shields over your eyes. Your session length will depend on the scope of your treatment, but most clients can expect to be done within 30–45 minutes.

During treatment, your provider moves the BBL handpiece over the treatment area. You may feel a warming sensation or slight sting as the device sends light energy into your skin, but this is typically mild and well tolerated.

Before you leave, we will apply a luxurious moisturizer and sunscreen to soothe and protect your skin.

To ensure the best results from your BBL HEROic™ treatment:

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks before treatment
Stop using retinol or strong exfoliants 3–5 days prior to treatment
Avoid self-tanners in the treatment area for 2–4 weeks before treatment
Inform your provider about any medications or skincare products you are using
Arrive with clean skin free of makeup, lotions, or sunscreen

Your provider will review your skincare routine and ensure your skin is properly prepared for treatment.

BBL HEROic™ requires little to no downtime, but proper aftercare is important for optimal results.

After treatment, your skin may feel warm or appear slightly red for several hours. Mild swelling may occur, particularly when treating vascular conditions. The first morning after treatment is when swelling is often most noticeable, particularly under the eyes. Swelling may last 2–4 days. Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before fading.

After treatment, avoid

Tanning beds, hot tubs or saunas
Vigorous exercise that may overheat the skin
Direct sun exposure for at least 72 hours
Harsh exfoliants, retinol, and active ingredients for several days

Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. Most patients can return to normal activities immediately.

Improvements build with each session, leading to smoother, clearer, more radiant skin. We recommend a series of 3–5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, with follow-up sessions performed 3–4 times per year.

During treatment, a clear gel is applied over the treatment areas to help the skin absorb light energy. As the treatment begins, patients typically feel minimal discomfort while the provider gently glides the handpiece over the skin.

Pulsed light improves the skin in two ways:

It targets highly vascular or pigmented areas like visible blood vessels or sunspots, breaking them down for the body to absorb.
The generated heat stimulates collagen-rich areas of the skin, triggering the body’s healing response and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving overall skin tone.

There is little to no downtime after treatment, and most patients can return to normal activities right away.

You may experience temporary effects, including:

Mild skin sensitivity, similar to a light sunburn
Temporary darkening of pigmented areas as they rise to the surface
Swelling, particularly when treating vascular concerns

Swelling is typically most noticeable the morning after treatment—especially under the eyes—and may last 2–4 days. Applying a cold compress can help reduce swelling, and sleeping slightly elevated for the first 2–3 nights is recommended.

These effects are normal and typically resolve within a few days as your skin heals and regenerates.
